Summary

Mesolithic occupation site was found in a field to east of the Old Lower Lighthouse. Excavated between 1965 and 1968 when over 600 picks being recovered. There is also evidence for a flint industry of the late Palaeolithic type which has become mixed with the Mesolithic.

Full Description

Mesolithic habitation site in the field adjacent to, and east of, the Old Lower Lighthouse, Portland. Excavated between 1965 and 1968, an extensive site was discovered, over 600 picks being recovered. There is also evidence for a flint industry of the late Palaeolithic type which has become mixed with the Mesolithic. (1-8)
