'In November (1950) another Portland stone coffin with ridge-roofed lid was found, this time during the cutting by mechanical excavatorof a road to the new naval establishment near Southwell. The burial had been damaged at the time of discovery and Lt. Col. Drew who inspected it, was not able to find any bones or pottery which could be assigned with certainty to it. There were, however, a number of hob-nails in the coffin.'
