Type and Period (1)

Full Description

Possible medieval deer park to the North-West of Wyke Farm. Although no convincing earthworks are evident other then a Saxon boundary feature, (ST 51 NE 46) which could have served as part of the park boundary, oblique references to Wyke Park in Hutchins, may indicate that an Abbot of Sherborne created a park here during the medieval period. The names Higher, Middle and Lower Park appear on a bill of sale of 1825, while Wyke, or Week, Park appear on Tithe appointments. <1>
