Field A8. North of Knowle Hill Farm, SU 033100.
A very high concentration of pottery of late Iron Age/early Romano-British date was found in the southern part of this field. In excess of 170 sherds were recovered from a run of 20m. The sherds were mainly coarse wares, but there were some Samian, colour-coated and white ware sherds present. The farmer recalls that a Romano-British burial was found when the piggery unit was installed at the farm. The Priest’s House Museum, Wimborne has some material from the burial and it is hoped to publish more details next year.
