Summary

The site of the round barrow is visible as a cropmark ring ditch with internal mound on aerial photographs . It lies to the southwest of the southern henge of Knowlton Circles and is one of the extensive Knowlton Circles Barrow Group. The outer ring ditch is 17m across, it was digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.

Full Description

SU 0190 0957. A Bronze Age round barrow associated with the southern part of the Knowlton Circles Barrow Group is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs and has been mapped by EH's Knowlton Circles Project. The barrow is defined by a circular ditch 17.2m in diameter. It has been levelled by ploughing, but photographic evidence shows traces of mound material. The barrow lies within the area of a Prehistoric or Roman field system (SU 00 NW 95), but appears to have been respected during the construction of the field banks. (1-2)
