Summary

A Bronze Age round barrow visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs and has been mapped by English Heritage's Knowlton Circles Project. Consists of two concentric ditches. The inner ditch measures 22.7m in diameter, whilst the outer ditch measures approximately 28m in diameter. Part of the Knowlton Circles Barrow Group. This feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

SU 0227 1016. A Bronze Age round barrow is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs, and has been mapped by EH's Knowlton Circles Project. It is defined by a single circular ditch 22.7m in diameter. The barrow is associated with the extensive barrow cemetery known as the Knowlton Circles Barrow Group. <2>

The Bronze Age barrow described above in <2> appears to be formed of two concentric ditches on aerial photographs of 2011. The outer ditch measures approximately 28m in diameter. This feature was recorded from EH Reconnaissance aerial photographs. <4>

The barrow is visible as a cropmark on a 1970s aerial photograph <3>. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
