Full Description

One of a small group of ring ditches visible as crop marks on aerial photographs and interpreted as the remains of round barrows, much reduced by ploughing. This monument is reported as being around 55 feet in diameter.

Three barrows E. of Matterley Cottages have been levelled by ploughing, but are visible as ring ditches on air photographs (N.M.R., SU 0209/5/186-87). (28) Barrow (02390918); diam. about 55 ft. <1-2>

The barrows have been mapped from aerial photographs by EH's Knowlton Circles Project, and their location and dimensions have been recorded more accurately. (28) SU 0244 0917; 20m in diameter. <3>

The barrow was digitally plotted from aerial photographs during the Dorset Stour NMP. It is 20m across. <3-4>
