Summary

One of two irregular, elongated mounds within the Oakley Down barrow group, immediately west of the Ackling Dyke Roman road. 11 paces in diameter and 1 foot high. In 1975, the RCHME considered this unlikely to be a Bronze Age barrow.

Full Description

A bowl barrow, part of a general cluster across Oakley Down (SU 01 NW 19). Described by Grinsell as being 11 paces in diameter and 1 foot high, and adjoining the Ackling Dyke Roman road. <1>
It is not mentioned by RCHME, either in the Dorset Inventory or in the Bokerley Dyke survey volume.

‘Oakley Down Group … Two irregular elongated mounds within the group are probably not barrows; … that at 02061760 is 62 ft. by 26 ft. and 1½ ft. high.’
