Summary

Bowl barrow forming part of the Oakley Down Group. In 1975 the RCHME noted that the monument was plough-damaged, about 45 feet in diameter, with a mound surviving to a height of 1.5 feet. This barrow was excavated in the early 19th century by Richard Colt Hoare, who reported finding a cremation burial.

Full Description

A bowl barrow, part of the Oakley Down barrow group (SU 01 NW 19). It was described by RCHME as a mound, damaged by ploughing, measuring 45 feet in diameter and 1.5 feet in height. It was dug into in the early 19th century by Cunnington and Hoare (their barrow 11), a cremation deposit 12 inches below the surface being the only find noted by them.
