Monument record MDO6356 - Bowl barrow, one of the Oakley Down Group, Wimborne St Giles

Bowl barrow forming part of the Oakley Down Group. It is an irregular mound 40 feet in diameter and 1.5 feet high. Whilst excavated in the early 19th century no burial remains were located.

A bowl barrow, part of the Oakley Down barrow group (SU 01 NW 19). It was described by RCHME as an irregular mound 40 feet in diameter and 1.5 feet high. It was dug into in the early 19th century by Cunnington and Colt Hoare (their barrow 12). Hoare's full account of the excavation is as follows: "No. 12 is a large flat barrow, in which we made two sections, but could discover no sepulchral signs whatever".
