Monument record MDO6330 - Bowl barrow, one of the Salisbury Plantation Group, Wimborne St Giles

A round barrow of a type known as a bowl barrow. One of a dispersed group of bowl barrows within and at the southern end of Salisbury Plantation. In 1975 this monument was reported as being about eighteen metres in diameter and almost a half metre high. The monument is in woodland. The site of the barrow is visible as earthworks on lidar imagery and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.

A bowl barrow, one of a dispersed group of 9 bowl barrows within and at the southern end of Salisbury Plantation. It was described by RCHME as a mound 60 feet in diameter and 1.5 feet high. This barrow was originally described as part of SU 01 NW 57. <2-3>

The site of the barrow is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery <1, 4, 5> and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP <5>. The barrow is 18-20m across with an outer ditch.
