Summary

A Bronze Age bowl barrow. In 1959 this monument was recorded as being around 16 metres in diameter with a mound about 0.3 metres high. The record for this monument has been enhanced with support from Wessex Water.

Full Description

(SY 92609938; SY 92659938) Two mounds marked as tumuli on MOW maps in Dorset County Museum. <1>

'A' (SY 92609938) Bowl barrow diameter 16.0m., height 0.3m., with no sign of a berm or ditch. The north part of the barrow has been cut by the modern road. Both barrows are grass covered. The beaker illustrated by ABERCROMBY (SY 99 NW 4) may have been found in one of these barrows. <2>

'Visible as a low rise in established grass that appears not to have been ploughed. Cut on N side by a road and hedge removes 5%.'
