Full Description

(ST 96050282) Outside the Romano-British enclosure (ST 90 SE 37) is a small rectangular pillow mound. <1>

The mound is 11.0m long in a NW-SE direction and 6.0m wide, with a maximum height of 0.4m. On the NE side of the mound a ditch has a maximum width of 3.0m and is 0.2m deep. It does not appear to go round the end of the mound, but unsurveyable traces of a counterpart are visible on the SW side. The whole is grass covered. <2>

An oval mound 11 metres long, 6metres wide and 0.4 metres high, with a ditch 3 metres wide and 0.2metres deep on the north-east side only. This may be a pillow mound associated with farming of rabbits on Badbury Warren. This land was excluded from the area delineated as Badbury Warren on the 1742 map (DRO) but may have been part of the warren at an earlier date.
