Summary

One of two mounds possibly indicating Bronze Age round barrows are shown on the 1811 1-inch and 1808 2-inch Ordnance Survey maps, north east of Crab Farm. The record for this monument has been enhanced with support from Wessex Water

Full Description

A mound visible on an Ordnance Survey 2" drawing of 1802 and the first edition 1" map of 1811 may represent a round barrow. <1-2>

Ordnance Survey field investigation in 1954 located no trace on the ground. <3>

Two ring ditches are visible immediately north of the Badbury – Dorchester Roman road 112,308 on aerial photograph NMR ST9502/1 (Bowen 1991, 41). They are probably the remains of Bronze Age burial mounds. Estimated diameter of ring ditch 112,778 is 11m. There is nothing visible on the ground.
