Summary

A Bronze Age bowl barrow around 14 metres in diameter, south west of Target Wood. Recorded by Grinsell (1959) as nearly ploughed out in 1939 and by the RCHME (1975) as having been levelled. The record for this monument has been enhanced with support from Wessex Water.

Full Description

A bowl barrow SW of Target Wood. It was formerly about 40 ft in diameter but has been levelled by ploughing. <3>

'The site of a Bronze Age burial mound is recorded by RCHM (1975, 63) as formerly being 12m dia. Nothing is visible on the ground. It is not visible on aerial photograph NMR ST9403/1. The site is shown as an earthwork on the 25inch to 1 mile Ordnance Survey map dated 1887. It lies on a south east slope.'
