Full Description

A possible ring ditch visible as a cropmark. If the identification is correct, the ring ditch forms part of a line of five possible plough-levelled round barrows located just east of the Dorset Cursus (Linear 41) and immediately north of the village of Pentridge. The site was noted rather uncertainly by Hoade in 1975. RCHME were also uncertain, noting the site but not numbering it in the Bokerley Dyke gazetteer (Bowen 1991). Note also that the latter soource erroneously describes the linear group as comprising Pentridge 38 to 41. In fact, it comprises Pentridge 27, 28, 38 and 39 (see SU 01 NW 77 and associated monuments). <4>
