Summary

One of a group of four bowl barrows and three long barrows near the end of the Dorset Cursus. In 1975 this monument was reported as being a mound around 1 foot high and it was calculated that its original diameter would have been around 50 feet.

Full Description

A bowl barrow, one of a pair located south of the probable Neolithic bank barrow SU 01 NW 40. Listed by RCHME as Pentridge 30 and by Grinsell as Pentridge 3, it was described in 1969 by an Ordnance Survey field investigator as a bowl barrow circa 14 metres in diameter and 0.30 metres high. <1-3>

‘Bokerley Down Group consists of four round barrows together with the three long barrows (20-22) which extend S.S.E. from the end of the Cursus. All but (32) have been much reduced by heavy ploughing. … (30) Bowl (04151892); former diam. 50 ft., ht. 1 ft.’
