Full Description

Ditched and banked linear features to the northeast of Kingston Lacy House are visible on aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery (2-3).

The features comnprise sections of linear banks that appear to form partial sub-rectangular enclosures, possibly building platforms or garden earthworks. Additional ditched linears interspersing these may be sections of trackways or lanes. The features are aligned on a broadly ESE-WNW axis and extend over a distance of approximately 530m. The earthworks of a probable medieval manor house (NHRE Hob UID 1215617) are recorded around 130m to the northwest, with further earthworks and possible building foundations of possible medieval origin (MDO41810) just over 220m to the north northwest.

The features may be earthworks associated with the deserted medieval settlement of Kingston Lacy and were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
