Full Description

SY 99789918. A Neolithic pit was discovered in 1962 as a result of rescue excavation in advance of road improvements. The pit was sub-rectangular and measured about 9 feet by 6 feet. It was filled with a dark charcoaly soil, interspersed with worked flints and Neolithic sherds from at least eleven vessels. The fill had been cut through by a Roman ditch. <2>
