Full Description

A bowl barrow located to the west of Thickthorn Wood, one of a roughly linear group of three located just on the Long Crichel side of the parish boundary with Tarrant Hinton.
RCHME fieldwork recorded the barrow as a mound 55 feet in diameter and 4 feet high, with some damage caused by digging on the northwest side.

Bowl barrow at NGR ST 9568 1226 is a scheduled monument. <5>

Note:
Three barrows were originally recorded under the NMR ST 91 SE 40. Subsequently two of the barrows have since been allocated their own NMRs: ST 91 SE 164 and ST 91 SE 165. The third barrow (this one) has kept the NMR ST 91 SE 40 and is the barrow identified as ‘B’ above.
