Full Description

A bowl barrow located to the west of Thickthorn Wood, one of a roughly linear group of three located just on the Long Crichel side of the parish boundary with Tarrant Hinton.
RCHME fieldwork recorded the barrow as a mound 20 feet in diameter and less than 1 foot high.

'Three barrows lie W. of Thickthorn Wood, almost on the parish boundary with Tarrant Hinton (Dorset IV, 96). (29) Bowl (95681221); diam. 20 ft., ht. under 1 ft.' <2>

Note:
Three barrows were originally recorded under the NMR ST 91 SE 40. Subsequently two of the barrows have since been allocated their own NMRs: ST 91 SE 164 (this barrow) and ST 91 SE 165. The third barrow has kept the NMR ST 91 SE 40.
