Monument record MDO5655 - Double disc barrow, Gussage St Michael

A monument interpreted as a double disc barrow depicted on a plan published by Warne (1872). However, the plan itself cannot be regarded as a reliable indicator of the location of the recorded feature. Certainly no trace of a barrow or ring ditch has been noted at the approximate location.

No trace of this barrow was found. The area is under grass. A distorted plan makes its actual siting doubtful. <2>

Note: A compiler at Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division identified only by the initials 'GLS' and who worked on this monument 1954-03-09 could not be identified or added to the contacts listed.

No visible trace in a field regularly ploughed and newly ploughed and planted in grass when visited. Ploughed out.
