Summary

A Bronze Age bowl barrow, one of a pair located within a later prehistoric enclosure. Mound is 85 feet in diameter and 5 feet high.

Full Description

(SU 00631430; SU 00591431) Tumuli (NR).

Two barrows lie on a north east slope immediately west of Ackling Dyke and within the enclosure (SU 01 SW 75). Both are in arable.

(SU 00601430) A bowl barrow, 85 feet in diameter and 5 feet high.

(SU 00631430) A bowl barrow, 45 feet in diameter and nearly flat. It is partly cut by Ackling Dyke, the Roman road. <2-4> [NB the latter has now been recorded separately as SU 01 SW 127]

'Two barrows lie on a N.E. slope at about 225 ft. above O.D., immediately W. of Ackling Dyke and within enclosure (8). Both are in arable (Plate 54).
