Full Description
Immediately north-west of Knapp Hill Farm, at ST 686057, is a series of strip lynchets running obliquely to the contours, 170 yds long with low risers and treads 40 yds wide. Below and to the north are two furlongs of ridge-and-furrow 6 yds to 7 yds wide. (1)
Three Medieval strip lynchets (with traces of a fourth?) lie obliquely across east-facing pasture slopes. The lynchets are from 100.0 to 230.0m in length and from 0.7 to 1.5m in height. The terraces are from 7.0 to 10.0m in width. The lynchets have at some period been reduced and spread a little by ploughing. <2>
