Summary

A bell barrow reported in 1975 as being around 65 feet in diameter with a mound 5 feet high, surrounded by a berm 12 feet wide and a broad ditch 16 feet wide. The barrow’s sides have been pared away by ploughing. Part of the barrow group on Wyke Down.

Full Description

A bell barrow, part of the barrow group on Wyke Down (see SU 01 NW 35 and associated monuments). RCHME described it as having been "pared away" by ploughing, but formerly a mound 65 feet in diameter and 5 feet high, surrounded by a berm 12 feet wide and a broad ditch. Grinsell measured the ditch at 16 feet wide. <1, 2>
