Summary

A bowl barrow situated on the parish boundary between Gussage All Saints and Wimborne St Giles, and one of a large group of round barrows around the Dorset Cursus. In 1975 this monument was reported as being around 78 feet in diameter with a mound about 3½ feet high.

A bowl barrow, one of a group located in Drive Plantation just south of the Dorset Cursus (Linear 41). Listed by RCHME as Gussage All Saints 39 and by Grinsell as Gussage All Saints 11, it lies on the boundary with Wimborne St Giles and was described by RCHME as a mound 78 feet in diameter and 3.5 feet high. <1> <3>

'Forty-one round barrows, the majority disposed in three groups, are detectable within the parish. They nearly all lie in the N., on the S.W. slopes of a low ridge between 200 ft. and 350 ft. above O.D. Most of them have been severely damaged or levelled by ploughing. … The Cursus Group consists of some twelve barrows scattered on either side of the junction of the Dorset Cursus and the Roman road, Ackling Dyke … The barrows of this group lie just N. of Drive Plantation Group and occupy a comparable situation. Most have been damaged by ploughing, and some have been totally levelled and are visible only on air photographs (58/RAF/3250: 0086; N.M.R., SU 0015/1/327; C.U.A.P., ANC 37). … (39) Bowl (01241523), in Drive Plantation on the boundary with Wimborne St. Giles; diam. 78 ft., ht.3½ ft.'
