Full Description

Drive Plantation Group comprises at least eleven round barrows, of which three and a long barrow lie in Wimborne St Giles. Those in Gussage All Saints have been levelled and are visible only as ring-ditches on air photographs (C.U.A.P., ANE 34, 35 <3>; N.M.R., SU 0015/6 <4>). They lie E. of the plantation on a gentle W. slope, between 220 ft. and 260 ft. above O.D. <1>

'Forty-one round barrows, the majority disposed in three groups, are detectable within the parish. They nearly all lie in the N., on the S.W. slopes of a low ridge between 200 ft. and 350 ft. above O.D. Most of them have been severely damaged or levelled by ploughing. … Drive Plantation Group (Plate 55) comprises at least eleven round barrows, of which three and a long barrow lie in WIMBORNE ST. GILES (see p. 101). Those in Gussage All Saints have been levelled and are visible only as ring-ditches on air photographs (C.U.A.P., ANE 34, 35; N.M.R., SU 0015/6). They lie E. of the plantation on a gentle W. slope, between 220 ft. and 260 ft. above O.D. The majority appear to be in the order of 50 ft. in diameter, except (29) which measures over 100 ft.
