Summary

Pieces of tile and pottery and a Roman coin were found during the laying out of a tennis court in a field next to the lane to Blackbush Down. A trench said to contain many oyster shells was also seen in the same field.

Full Description

Romano-British pottery has been found north of Cranborne village (SU 05341406), where a ditch containing oyster shells was seen, together with tiles and a coin of Constantine I. <2>

Investigation of the circumstances of finds made when a tennis court was being laid out. According to local residents a trench containing many oyster shells ran SE from the NW corner of the field. Fragments of tile and pottery, and a coin (thought, from description, to be an Urbs Roman issue of Constantine I) were found.
