Summary

One of a group of three barrows in the grounds of St Michael's School. The bowl barrow has been previously recorded as having a mound about 9 metres in diameter surrounded by a slight ditch approximately 2 metres wide. The barrow is no longer visible on the surface but the ditch will survive as a buried feature.

The barrows at SU 02330112 and SU 02350111 have been destroyed by extensions to the school playgrounds. <3>

‘There are six barrows in the parish; … (5) Bowl (02330112), 20 yds. N. of (4), is covered by trees; the top of the mound has been disturbed. Diam. 29 ft., ht. 2 ft.; there are traces of a surrounding ditch.’
