Full Description

Birmingham University Field Archaeology Unit recorded a dense mediaeval pottery scatter to the south of Chalbury, during fieldwalking as part of an assessment of the fields of Black Barn Farm in 1990. Most of the pottery dates to between the 11th/12th century and 14th centuries and includes a number of rim sherds. This has been suggested as evidence for a former part of the medieval settlement of Chalbury, deserted in the 14th or 15th century. (1) (2)
