Summary

Site of a former pottery works, including a pottery kiln and associated cottage, part of the Verwood Potteries. In production from the 18th century until 1840. It was first operated by the Harvey Family but taken over by William Fry in 1800.

Alderholt Kiln 4: A pottery kiln, part of the Verwood Potteries, probably in production during the 18th century by the Harvey Family. The kiln was then taken over by William Fry in 1800 until 1840 when production ceased. <5>

Site of a former pottery and cottage. The kiln was worked by the Harvey family in the Eighteenth century. By about 1800, William and then Henry Fry had taken over the business, but it closed down before 1840. <4-5>

The kiln mound is shown on the Ordnance Survey 25-inch map epoch 1 (1887), where it is marked as 'Old Pottery Kiln'. <1>
