Full Description
A post medieval lime kiln is visible as a small rectilinear structure to the north of Hill Farm, Woolland, on 1940s aerial photographs (RAF 1945). The structure stands beside a small crescent shaped hollow that might be an associated chalk pit, visible as a ditched earthwork on the same aerial photograph. The lime kiln is recorded next to the adjacent hollow on the OS Epoch 1 25 inch map (OS c1880). The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
The hollowed earthwork appears to survive from available Google Earth imagery, it is not so clear whether the lime kiln survives from available aerial sources.
