Summary

A bowl barrow with a mound composed of earth, chalk and flint, with maximum dimensions of 20 metres in diameter and about 1m in height. The mound is surrounded by an infilled ditch. The barrow has been reduced is size by some ploughing.

Full Description

A bowl barrow, 22 paces in diameter and 3 1/2ft. high. (2)

A tree and bramble covered bowl barrow. Diameter 23.0 metres NE-SW, 1.3 metres high. The north-west side has been levelled by the plough. (3)

SY 83169754. Barrow (?) about 45ft diameter and 4ft high, situated in the hedge forming the parish boundary with Bere Regis on top of a broad ridge. It is now almost ploughed away, except where it has been protected by the hedge. (4)

SY 831976. Round barrow south of Horse Close Plantation. (5)

SY 83169753. Bowl barrow on the parish boundary. Now an elongated mound forming part of a hedgebank, 16.0 by 8.0 metres, and height 1.2 metres, reduced by ploughing. Resurveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. (6)

'(20) Barrow ? (83169754), S. of Horse Close Plantation, in the hedge forming the parish boundary with Bere Regis, lies at just over 200 ft. O.D. on top of a broad ridge and is now almost ploughed away, except where it has been protected by the hedge. Diam. About 45 ft., ht. 4 ft.'
