Summary
Medieval gilt copper alloy 'banner' type harness pendant; both faces with a white enamel stag motif surrounded by green enamel foliage. Considered to be of thirteenth- or fourteenth century date.

Full Description
Found in 1988 by Mr Ken Wheatley. Banner mounts are comparatively uncommon and, as with other harness pendants of the time, carry a variety of heraldic and other decorative motifs. The white stag was the badge of King Richard II, although this was usually shown 'lodged', crowned and chained: The design here may instead be non-heraldic.
