Summary

Bowl barrow, much reduced by ploughing. Former diameter 40 ft., former height 2 ft. A hole has, at some point in the past, been dug in the centre of the monument. The record for this monument has been enhanced with support from Wessex Water. The barrow is visible as a sub-circular banked earthwork with an outer ditch on 1940s aerial photographs and as a cropmark on Google Earth 2020 imagery and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM Project.

Full Description

Bowl barrow, much reduced by ploughing. Former diameter 40 ft., former height 2 ft. A hole has, at some point in the past, been dug in the centre of the monument.
The record for this monument has been enhanced with support from Wessex Water.

The barrow is visible as a sub-circular banked earthwork approximately 15m in diameter, with an outer ditch potentially between 3 and 5m wide (resolution of image is rather poor), on 1940s aerial photographs [4]. A 3m in diameter hollow is visible on the northeast side of the mound. The feature is visible as a ring ditch cropmark on Google Earth 2020 imagery [5]. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM Project.
