Full Description
Ditched linear earthworks to the northeast of Higher Farm, Chetnole, are visible on aerial photgraphs and lidar imagery. One of the linear earthworks corresponds with a removed field boundary shown OS Epoch 1 6" to the mile map published in 1888 and still extant on an aerial photograph dated 1947. The adjacent features might be part of a medieval field system, with patches of ridge and furrow indicated, or even part of an area of shrunken medieval settlement (EA 2022; OS 1888; RAF 1947; DC 1972; GE 2025).
