Full Description
An area of probable medieval strip field to the east of Stockwood Mill, Chetnole, is visible as narrow linear banked earthworks on a 1947 aerial photograph and lidar imagery. The linear banks infill the historic field boundaries shown on the OS Epoch 1 6" to the mile map and potentially predates some of these, indicating some later modification to the medieval field pattern. Patches of possible medieval ridge and furrow are also visible within the linear plots on lidar imagery (EA 2022; OS 1887; RAF 1947).
