Monument record MDO51066 - Bronze Age pits, Longham Lakes, Ferndown Town

Please read our .

Summary

A cluster of pits excavated by Southern Archaeological Services in 2001 in advance of gravel extraction. The pits were in an area where Bronze Age pottery was recovered near to or within the same contexts as good quality worked flint, and the fillings of some of the pits contained pottery of Bronze Age date, so the pits themselves are thought likely to be Bronze Age in date.
