The features are probably part of a former medieval strip field system.

An area of probable medieval ridge and furrow cultivation and removed historic boundaries of probable medieval origin are visible as earthworks in fields on the northeastern edge of Nether Compton on 2022 composite DTM lidar and satellite imagery. The features are probably part of a former medieval strip field system (EA 2022; GE 2010).
