Full Description
<1> Trust for Wessex Archaeology, 1986, Dorset Barrow Survey (Index). SDO134.
βA bowl barrow revealed after the clearance of Hyde Hill Plantation. Not recorded by RCHM, Grinsell or Ordnance Survey. Forms a line of four aligned NW-SE. A small mound 9.0m in diameter and 0.4m high. Visible as a faint rise in managed deciduous woodland. The plantation has recently been cleared of mature trees and replanted with saplings. The clearfelling operation has disturbed the ground surface and old tree stumps remain. The barrow has an uneven surface and was covered in tussock grass. The mound lies 12 paces SW of a fence and beyond it to NE lies a track and a field regularly ploughed. No ditch visible. Part-excavated by Warne 1840? (Warne C, Celtic Tumuli of Dorset, No 39, 40 Pt1).β

βST 95121042, 9.0 m dia., 0.4 m high, damaged by clearfelling and replanted with saplings.β
