Monument record MDO50826 - Medieval ridge and furrow, Gore Cottages, Trent

A small area of roughly north-south aligned medieval ridge and furrow survives within this plot. The earthworks are visible in 2022 DTM LiDAR imagery (Environment Agency 2022), and in modern satellite imagery (Google Earth 2006; Google Earth 2009) pre-dating tree planting within the plot c. 2016. LiDAR imagery illustrates that the earthworks extend into the gardens to the north of the plot, and it is not shown as an orchard by historic OS maps, indicating that these earthworks are unlikely to be related to the extensive post-medieval orchards in the vicinity.
