Full Description
Areas of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation, strip field, and field boundaries within the bottoms to the southwest of Chitcombe Farm, Woolland, are visible as banked and ditched earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and current Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1945; RAF 1945; EA 2018). The features probably form part of a former medieval open field system, perhaps with some later elements, and were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
