Full Description
Part of a banked and ditched field system on the south side of Rawlsbury Camp, Stoke Wake, is visible as earthworks on early aerial photographs and current Environment Agency lidar imagery (CCC undated; RAF 1945; RAF 1947; EA 2018). The field system incorporates part of a possibly natural scarp on the south east slopes. The field system is probably of later prehistoric origin, perhaps near contemporary with Rawlsbury Camp, but could have later, medieval, elements; some of the boundaries appear potentially re-used to form part of the medieval field system in this area (MDO3965). The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
