Monument record MDO50560 - Later prehistoric and later field system, Rawlsbury Camp, Stoke Wake

Please read our .

Summary

Part of a banked and ditched field system on the south side of Rawlsbury Camp, Stoke Wake, is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and current Environment Agency lidar imagery. The field system incorporates part of a possibly natural scarp on the south east slopes. The field system is probably of later prehistoric origin, perhaps near contemporary with Rawlsbury Camp, but could have later, medieval, elements; some of the boundaries appear potentially re-used to form part of the medieval field system in this area (MDO3965). The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
