Summary

Part of a banked field system within Delcombe Wood, Milton Abbas, is visible as earthworks on current Environment Agency lidar imagery. The features extend across the high slopes over an area of around 53ha and are considered to be later prehistoric in origin, although some later features might also be present. The field system appears to continue part of an Iron Age to Roman period field system recorded to the east under MDO4470. The features were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

Part of a banked field system within Delcombe Wood, Milton Abbas, is visible as earthworks on current Environment Agency lidar imagery (EA 2018). The features extend across the high slopes over an area of around 53ha and are considered to be later prehistoric in origin, although some later features might also be present. The field system appears to continue part of an Iron Age to Roman period field system recorded to the east under MDO4470. The features were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
