Full Description
Areas of disturbed ground containing deeper pockets and hollows within Lamplands Copse, Stoke Wake, are visible as earthworks on current Environment Agency lidar imagery (EA 2018). Some of the features are recorded as old chalk pits on the OS Epoch 1 25 inch map, suggesting those from the wider vicinity are also post medieval chalk pits and shallow chalk extraction (OS c1880). They were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
