Full Description
An area of disturbed ground containing some deeper pockets that might be post medieval extractive pits is visible as shallow ditched earthworks on the southeast flank of Woolland Hill, Woolland, on Environment Agency lidar imagery (EA 2018). The features border clay with flints geology and several flint pits are recorded in the vicinity, with chalk pits more evident to the west and southwest, off the clay with flints. The features might be post medieval chalk pits and shallow chalk extraction, but might include some flint pits. They were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
