Full Description

A loose spread of post medieval extractive pits are visible as shallow ditched and banked earthworks on the southeast flank of Woolland Hill, Woolland, on Environment Agency lidar imagery (EA 2018). The features might be chalk pits of post medieval origin and were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project. Some of the adjacent curvilinear banks might be spoli from the pits but could alternatively be linear banks associated with a later prehistoric field system on Woolland Hill.
