Summary

A series of parallel ridges is visible as low earthworks on lidar imagery under trees within Whatcombe Wood. The features appear to overlie the field system described in MDO5036 and are therefore considered likely to be the remains of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation; they cover an area of over 10 ha and were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

Full Description

A series of parallel ridges is visible as low earthworks on lidar imagery under trees within Whatcombe Wood. The features appear to overlie the field system described in MDO5036 and are therefore considered likely to be the remains of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation; they cover an area of over 10 ha and were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
