Summary

Fragments of a banked field system are visible as low earthworks on lidar imagery under trees within New Coppice, on the north east side of the dry valley. The boundaries may be of Iron Age, Roman or medieval origin; they cover an area of over 14 ha and were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project. The system continues to the south into Whatcombe Wood and is described in MDO50369.

Full Description

Fragments of a banked field system are visible as low earthworks on lidar imagery under trees within New Coppice, on the north east side of the dry valley. The boundaries may be of Iron Age, Roman or medieval origin; they cover an area of over 14 ha and were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project. The system continues to the south into Whatcombe Wood and is described in MDO50369.
