Full Description
A cluster of post medieval extractive pits are visible as shallow ditched earthworks on Aplin's Heath Hill, Ibberton, on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1947; EA 2018). The features are close to features recorded as old flint pits on the OS Epoch 1 25 inch map (OS c1880) and could also be post medieval flint pits, or alternatively chalk pits. They were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
